Swallowtail Takes Flight

Swallowtail Shawl from Interweave Knits, Fall 2006 by Evelyn A. Clark

Yarn: JaggerSpun: Zephyr Wool-Silk in Copper. I used just over 1/2 a skein.
Needles: Addi Turbo Lace – Size 4 u.s.;
for the peaked edging pattern: size 5 u.s.;
for the final increase and bind-off rows: size 6 u.s.

Pre-blocked size: 38″ x 18″
Blocked size: 53″ x 23″

The only modification I made to the pattern was to increase the needle size on the last pattern and bind-off.

I love this shawl. I can’t wait to wear it this weekend in Whistler.

  1. That is a beautiful shawl, but it’s so unfortunate the colour doesn’t come through accurately (at least not on my monitor!) I’ve seen it in person and it is not the salmon colour it appears in the picture. I’m still amazed that you — or anyone else! — can actually knit something that gorgeous.

  2. Found you in ravelry…love the shawl. I also did mine in Zephyr and found it to be a great yarn for blocking. So easy! I didn’t have to fight with the yarn at all!

  3. Thank you! Grammar — some colours just don’t photograph well, this is one of them.Krista — I’d love to see your shawl, send me a link! btw, cute cute baby!
