For a while now I’ve been playing around in my head with the idea of a daily journal, or hopefully daily, a posting of photos or song lyrics or a poem or a quote or something to express myself in a creative way. I have flickr, but that fills up with photos of crafty projects, vacations, family, etc and it’s hard to edit it to a look that I want. And besides, it’s a community of friends, photos of our lives, and I don’t want that to change.
Then there’s this blog which also is full of words (of which frequently I have none!) and photos on a wide variety of subjects, but mainly to do with (again) my crafty pursuits. I’ve been debating how I want to change this blog and I’ve decided to not change it anymore, but add another one! Yikes! Did I really decide to do that?
Beyond the Horizon is an attempt to be more particular about what I post, to post in a way I feel is creative and true to me, but won’t get bogged down with knitting needle sizes and weights of handspun yarn. Not that there’s anything wrong with that at all! It’s my main pursuit in life to find the perfect yarn for the perfect project…and have the end result something that I love, or someone I love loves!
So we’ll see how it goes. I hope to keep it daily and to post something, even if it’s on a whim, of something that has influenced me that day. I’ve put a link here if anyone wants a look, but I don’t think comments are available on tumblr, or if they are, I haven’t figured it out yet. There will be some crossover and some repetition, and in a fit of annoyance with myself, it may disappear altogether!
The name “Beyond the Horizon” comes from a Bob Dylan song, of course. Do I listen to anyone else? The answer to that would be a surprising “yes” to those who know me. But don’t worry, I don’t stray too far…I’ve got Jakob Dylan playing on my ipod right now as I write this. By the way, his Women & Country just released last week is pretty wonderful….but he’s no Bob.
