Losing Faith

I just want to finish this.  Now, I know it’s my fault for not ordering enough white yarn.   I just didn’t know how much yarn it would take to crochet my blanket.  I over estimated on the bright colours — in fact, I have double the amount I needed for that, but underestimated on the white.  I ordered 10 balls, a whole bag o’yarn, and I need more.  I thought white was safe.  White is available all the time.  Dye lots shouldn’t be a problem.  I just didn’t factor in that they wouldn’t have it available for months.

Today was the date they said it would be available and now this.  I’m losing faith, knitpicks.   I want to finish.  Maybe I should go with the colours to outline the blanket.  After all, as I stated, I have a plethora of colours.   Maybe the thing to do is to try it out.  It’s only crocheting and it’s easy to rippppp.

And now it’s a new day.

.

the ends!

After an evening of crocheting… I think I have a new game plan.  I used every blessed amount of white I had left and got two rows of granny pattern border done.  Just scraps are left.  So on a whim, I picked up the red and started going around the border with double crochets in each stitch.  I think I love this.  Makes for a nice frame around all that white.  I may add another colour or two to the border, depends on what I’m feeling at the time.  But for now, I’m feeling pretty happy about this.

Photos coming after the battery charges and the daylight emerges…

……………………………………………………………………………

So with daylight and a charged battery, here’s what it looks like.  It’s funny how things are perceived, at least to me, differently in a photograph than in reality.  I like it more after seeing these.

So I’m going to forgo the extra white.  I’m going to keep with the red border and contemplate adding another colour to go around… maybe taking another photograph to see what it really looks like.

  1. I think it’s clear the problem is that they simply don’t realize that YOU are waiting for this yarn!!! I would drop them an email and let them know the dilemma you are facing. Don’t lose faith!!!

  2. I like the red (if you don’t mind me saying 🙂 It might make you use the blanket a bit more – with so much white it almost feels like you shouldn’t pick it up incase you get it dirty (if you know what I mean..?) with the red it might make it feel more touchable? Maybe?
