Whoa, another post? I’m trying to write more often …since I’m paying the big bucks (hah), might as well make use of this space!
So I’m redoing my craftroom/office again. I feel like the first few times were practice sessions, but this time we’ve gone so far as to completely empty the room, put in new carpet and now I’m in the process of picking out paint samples. I really wanted to put in a wood floor (or wood laminate), but we have this hump problem in the room and there’s just no getting around a hump apparently, so carpet went in instead, and in a soft brown (actually softer than it looks here). I can pretend it’s a cushy cozy wood floor, right? As far as choosing paint colours, there are just too many to choose from…hence, I’m having a hard time making my choice, but I think I’m narrowing it down.
Whenever I attempt to pick out colours, it reminds me of one of my favourite old movies, Mr. Blanding Builds His Dreamhouse. Cary Grant, Myrna Loy…they’re adorable together. He’s kind of a curmudgen and she is hopelessly optimistic that it will all turn out. They really have no idea what they’re doing, but it all turns out and she gets to live happily ever after with Cary Grant. Definitely a movie to watch on a rainy Saturday, knitting and cocooning. But there is a scene when Muriel is describing the colours she wants her decorator to use in the different rooms…
I feel for her. I want the exact blue…not too blue but not too green and no yellow in that green. And definitely no gray. We have enough gray in our weather! That will be the accent wall. The other walls will be white, but not white white and not a yellow white..and no gray in that white. But a soft white. I think I’ve narrowed it down and I’m just waiting to get a nod of approval from the mister and the daughter…and then I can commence with painting this weekend. I’d love to do it tomorrow, but I’m helping out the other daughter pick colours for her new condo. I can’t do it Friday because I’m getting that damn gray out of my hair. Banish all gray!
