market date

Well time sure has flown by since last I was here, but it’s been a very busy couple of weeks. We’re getting ready for our market booth this Saturday, August 30th at the Edmonds Washington Summer Market, from 9am to 3pm. We’ve been editing what it is we want to present, adding new products and doing what we enjoy. Both Melissa and I are loving the process of dyeing yarns and fibres and coming up with new colour combinations. We’re finding our way.

Something that we are adding to sell at the market are kits that are our hand dyed yarn with patterns. She is putting together kits for her adorable handspun baby hats, “Little Bits”. There will also be finished little hats for sale.

I’m adding my fingerless mitt kits, using handspun mini-skeins and a pattern I wrote up, Ripple Wave Fingerless Mitts, using hand dyed fingering weight yarn.

And the third kit we will be offering is my Eyelet Ridge Shawl pattern using our long-colour changing handspun, which is also hand dyed. It’s a soft merino and silk blend, perfect for keeping the chill off your neck and not scratchy at all.

I’ll be adding these patterns for sale on Ravelry and our Etsy shop (once I figure out how to do all that!)

Melissa came up for a few days last week so we could work together. As much as we enjoy our texting and FaceTime daily meetings, it’s so much more satisfying to get up early in the morning, make our coffee and get into it together. And going for our daily walk is good planning time too. And just hanging out and knitting is not goofing off… it’s work!!

And then the lad came home! He’s been away at school since January and let us know a week before he came home that he’s accepted an internship in our province, a mere 4.5 hours by car! We’ve enjoyed the short time he’s been home, getting things ready to go, cooking for him and just loving having him here. I can’t believe he was here… and now gone! I’ve missed him so much 😦

So the last couple of weeks have been chaotic but fun…  I’ve got the patterns ready to go and the yarn packed up and ready to travel south. We have new tags printed. We plan to have our Etsy shop back up by Sunday or Monday, with our new yarn and kits listed to sell. And we’re both working on new patterns and kits to add in the next couple of months.

And now I’m off to dye more yarn!
