Last week I went down to my sister’s in Washington for the Puget Sound LYS 2016 Tour. Five days and 28 shops were participating. We made it to 6 and spent 3 days volunteering at our favourite shop, All Wound Up. It was so fun to meet so many knitters and crocheters and I’m amazed at the ones that made it to all the shops! That’s a lot of driving and ferries and the traffic was particularly bad last week!
We went to 5 shops in the central area: Fiber Gallery, Weaving Works, Bad Woman Yarn (all that i’ve been to before) and two new ones for me: The Tea Cosy and Acorn Street Shop. This was the first year that All Wound Up participated (their one-year anniversary is coming up this summer) and I was so happy to see so many good comments about it. The owners, Leslie and Nona (mother and daughter) are so fun and welcoming and really make it a place where you want to hang out at all the time! Not to mention making a crazy face in the sheep 🙂
I bought lots of yarn and have too many projects I want to do all at once I did whip up this cowl, Greenwood Cowl by Malaika Gabriel, the free crochet pattern offered at All Wound Up. It should be available soon on Ravelry. It came together all in an evening, even with us taking time for dinner and a bottle of wine.
When I crochet, I never want to put it down. I’ve always been that way… it’s just such an addiction for me. Next stitch… next stitch… next row… more more more… I made mine in this gorgeous red. The yarn is Nanostitchlab’s Kinetic DK, all named for female scientists. I’m in Marie Curie.
Besides the yarn shops, Melissa and I had a dyeing day and we got some gorgeous colour ways dyed for the Edmonds Saturday Market (July 2 & 30, info in sidebar). We’ve got new colours in the superwash merino worsted weight and new Ripple Wave Mitt Kits in a merino/cashmere blend.
I had such a good time and now I’ve got lots of yummy yarn to play with!
