“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” mother theresa
After thinking about ways I can help out and make a small difference in this scary and crazy world, I decided to do more charity knitting this year. World peace through knitting! Baby hats, baby blankets, toques and mittens for the homeless… It feels right to balance out my projects.
As well, I have decided to donate my 2017 earnings from the patterns I sell on Ravelry to Doctor’s Without Borders – Médecins Sans Frontières. I receive 100% of proceeds from Ravelry, but I also sell through local yarn shops and receive 60% of the proceeds – 40% goes to the shop – so what I receive through those sales will also go to MSF.
I’d be surprised if anybody hasn’t heard of MSF, but they are a world-wide medical and humanitarian relief organization, non-political, at times risking their lives to help people in war conflicts, disease outbreaks and other emergencies.
This little video explains a bit more about their purpose to “save lives, alleviate suffering and restore human dignity.”
It just seems like the right thing to do at a time when the world seems to be falling apart. Let’s do everything we can, however small, to make sure 2017 will be a better year!
Peace and Love.
