I came, I played, I drank wine, I survived! And now I’m a little hungover this morning!

Last night was our duet at our Recital Club gathering. Such a supportive and positive group of people made my despair over a few “hiccups” go away. Ah, the joys of a live performance! Our tuning was superb according to the listeners, and believe me, with flutes… that’s essential!  We played Duo for 2 Flutes in G major by G. Cambini.

And I wore my Azufral cowl which made me feel invincible. That will be my go-to-armour when I need special powers… lol.

I started a new project, which is one of the reasons I hurriedly finished the last two shawls (Summer Sorbet and Azufral). This is a mystery shawl written by Susanne Sommer, the same designer for Summer Sorbet and my Peruvian Poncho. And it’s Brioche!! I’ve been wanting to try brioche and must say I’ve been a little intimidated by it, but with all things… just give it a try and it might be okay. And it’s more thank okay, it’s very addicting, not to mention soft and squishy.

I started with two darker colours, a deep blue/green and a grey green and after our winter, our grey and rainy spring, the colours were just too blah and no zip at all. So I went back to the stash (I decided NOT to buy any new yarn for this project. It was going to be a true stash-buster) and found some leftover skeins of fingering weight that I dyed a few years ago for our market booth. What luck! I picked two: Tigerlily and Gerbera for the colours A and B. There will be a third colour for the edging and I do have a pretty green that I also dyed, but not as much yardage in it so I’m not sure it will work. But regardless, there is something in my stash that will work and, second regardless, I still have some undyed wool that I can dye to my specifications. Hmmmm…. I could even try a speckle effect for that. Well, I have time to decide on that.

The colours together reminds me of sunshine, blue skies, orange tulips dancing in the breeze… it makes me feel happy.

Two days in a row now that we’ve had beautiful weather. I think today will be knitting (of course) and working out in the yard. Those weeds sure thrive in the rainy weather and then there is the matter of power washing the patio. But first… knitting! And coffee!

😉

  1. The cowl is lovely and does remind me of chainmail! I love the colors you chose for your new project and the picture you have underneath of the sky and the tulips is perfect! 😀
